About Katy
I am a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist (SLT). I have a BA in Applied Music ( community) (2002) and BSc in Speech and Language Pathology from University of Strathclyde (2005), in 2015 I gained a post graduate certificate in Autism from University of Strathclyde. I am a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), and registered with the Health Care Profession Council (HCPC).
In 2017 I co-founded a non-profit company based in Scotland where I worked with an amazing multidisciplinary team in the assessment diagnosis and support of children and young people with a range of neurodevelopmental differences.
I have worked as a Speech and Language Therapist since 2005 within the NHS and has developed a specialism in the assessment of, and support for, individuals with Additional Support Needs (including Intellectual Disabilities, Complex Needs and Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD ). I have worked in specialist provisions for secondary aged children, community clinics and within a multi-disciplinary adult learning disability team where I became a qualified dysphagia trained therapist and an accredited Talking Mats trainer.
I have received a wide range of training in Assessment and Therapy for children and adults with Additional Support Needs including Talking Mats, Social Stories, Intensive interaction, PODD communication books, inclusive communication, PACT, ADOS 2, SCERTS, dysphagia and more.
